“Gender in Coffee”

A film by Xavier Hamon and Hannah Stapleton, made in 2018. Freely available online, Xavier and Hannah encourage screenings to continue the conversation.

Gender in Coffee – A Documentary offers an intimate look at coffee farming through the lens of gender equity. The film follows the path of coffee from a smallholder farmer household in Chiapas Mexico into the roasters and cafes where it is enjoyed. It offers an intriguing and eye-opening look into an issue of critical importance to farming women, their families and communities, and the supply chain as a whole.

The audience will be invited to reflect on the film and participate in question and answer session to deepen shared understanding on the issue and what can be done.

The discussion session will be hosted by Kimberly Easson, Founder and Strategic Director of the CQI Partnership for Gender Equity. Kimberly will share her experiences from working more than 20 years with coffee growing communities around the world. Understand why investing in all members of coffee farming families is critical to the wellbeing of the entire coffee supply chain.

Donations are graciously invited and will go to support the work of the Women in Coffee Project and the CQI Partnership for Gender Equity's projects in coffee producing communities in Ethiopia, Peru and Myanmar.
