Who We Are

The Women in Coffee Project was founded in 2018 by Amaris Gutierrez-Ray and a small group of folks working for Joe Coffee Company. It started with an idea for a single event and then expanded out of a desire for effective and meaningful opportunities for people in the coffee community to listen together and act together.

We are a very small group of activists volunteering our time for this project. All funds we raise go directly toward honoring invited panelists for their time. We are on a path to becoming a registered 501(c)3. Until that time, we cannot provide any tax-exempt documentation.

You may notice we don’t have too many photos of people producing coffee. We firmly believe in asking permission for photos, and only using photos of women we know, support, work with, or communicate with directly. As our Project grows and we meet and learn from more women within roles of leadership in producing or the logistics of coffee, we hope to share their stories, and that will include their photos.

If you’d like to see your face listed below, or if you have someone you would like us to meet, please get in touch!
